Summer Is Over? Not Yet!!

Summer may have been gone but the heat remains in heart. Recently found a mint copy of Marcos Valle's Braziliance! Original Warner gold label. Pretty rare. However, its rarity is not as important as the music itself. The music demonstrates Valle's composing power. The music swings with passions. Bossa Nova in its best form.

Bossa Nova (Timeless #21)

I can listen to these bossa nova tunes many many times a day and never get tired or it. This is what I call real music. Particularly enjoy these videos:

Marcos Valle - Summer Samba (aka So Nice)

Antonio Carlos Jobim - The Girl from Ipanema

Timeless (#16)

Sergio Mendes Brazil 66 -  Goin' Out of my Head (1966)

Sergio Mendes (featuring Joe Pizzulo & Leza Miller) - Never Gonna Let You Go (1984)

Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66 - Look of Love (1966)

Timeless #7

Classic Bossa Nova...

Antonio Carlos Jobim & Joao Gilberto - Girl from Ipanema

Gerry Mulligan and Antonio Carlos Jobim

Interesting to see the two jazz masters interacted with each others.

Need Remedy for Cold/Flu??

The perfect remedy for fighting the cold weather is to listen to some high energy and passionate music.

Recommended Remedy:

1) Mierda Hedionda -- Greenfly feat. Dionnie Williams (Soul Obsession, 2002 CD)

• compiled by LTJ Bukem, the famous Drum & Bass DJ and producer.

2) Street Man -- Malo (Latin Rock in the USA 1968-76, Soul Jazz Records LP)

• Only hear about Santana?  Try Malo, they will blow you away.  Listen to the organ and the drums.
• Chicano Movement that affected the rock and USA politics history

3)  So Nice or Summer Samba -- Macros Valle (Samba 68', 1968 Verve LP)

• Diana Krall just put out a cover version of this song in her latest album.  Think she sang pretty well?  Wait until you listen to the original by the composer himself.  This is real Bossa Nova.

4) Safely in Your Arms -- Macros Valle (Samba 68', 1968 Verve LP)

• Beautiful ballad song.  What more could you ask for =)?

 Get well soon!!
